Aversion, Dislike

šŸ“œ SÅ«tra 2.8 (Definition of Dveį¹£a):

“Duįø„kha-anusmį¹›ti-raga-anubandhÄ« dveį¹£aįø„”
“Aversion is that which follows the experience of pain.”

This means dveį¹£a arises from memory of suffering—when the mind recalls pain, it forms a mental pattern of rejection or resistance. That reaction becomes a saṁskāra, an impression, stored in chitta.

🧘 In Practice

Yoga aims to transcend both attachment and aversion—to remain balanced and equanimous regardless of what arises.

As you move deeper into meditation and self-inquiry, rāga and dveṣa begin to weaken, and viveka (discernment) grows.
